Well, since I do not actually have this device, I can only offer opinions here. I have an LG phone. Since compatible cellphones are only blackberry and Iphones what is the advantage in owning this device? Wireless is great if your device is supported.
I do note there is a universal dock thing that has to be plugged into my cellphone, and then when placed on the mat should charge my LG phone, but what is the difference in plugging in the universal pad and plugging in my charge cord? I am still plugging something in to charge my phone, and still unplugging something to use my phone. Big whoop. I will pass. My LG charging cable costs less than 100 dollars.

First of all to everyone out there reading this, I ask that you disregard the negative review. I imagine if you drop any electronic device or decide to give it an unwanted bath it’s going to break. That being said, this device does everything that’s advertised. I went out to my local Best Buy today after waiting a week to buy it. Boy, should I have bought it sooner, this thing is great.
It comes in very nice packaging, has a great instructional booklet on how everything works, and comes with the eight tips to use for the powercube that is included. I was amazed to see the Samsung tip in there as well, because as we all know Samsung can’t possibly conform to the standard microUSB or miniUSB. The device feels solid and all the tips worked. Follow the instructions and you won’t be dissapointed. What makes this device green is the fact that when whatever device you have connected to the Powermat, requires no more energy, it stops sending energy to that device, thus cutting back over the long run, your electric bill. Of course this all depends on how many devices you choose to use with the powermat.
Along with the powermat, I bought the case for the Nintendo DSi and love it just as I thought I would. I highly reccomend the case for any gamer out there.
It’s true that 100.00 is a little steep, and because you have to buy another powercube, or case, depending on which device you wish to charge, at 29.99 each, it can get a little expensive. However, this should not deter prospective buyers. Buy this amazing device, and I guarantee you’ll be happy.

I first heard about Powermat due to their marketing, including an attention grabbing commercial. I liked the idea so much after reading it that I went out and bought one immediately.

As far as the actual product – it is perfect. The only thing I don’t like about Powermat is trying to figure out what I will do with the expensive charging station I bought last Christmas.
You don’t have to hunt for cords, and with our old charging station, sometimes we’d accidentally have unplugged it to plug something else in. So when you think you are charging you really weren’t – then dead phone the next morning. I love the noise it makes when you put your phone on the mat.
I’m debating buying the travel version but will hold out til my next trip to see how much I miss it.

I am about to purchase this item and after reading most of the reviews have to ask myself what do the past users expect. Of course the iphone, blackberry needs some sort of connection to the existing power source, after all this unit can not preform magic and simply send power through the air, through the iphone or blackberry case and magically charge the battery. It instead needs to be able to connect through the plug-protective case for the iphone/blackberry then it can connect to the powerpad using the magnet connection.
As far as the concern about the magnet against credit cards, be prewarned that both the iphone and the blackberry already have magnets within them for the audio speaker, so not unless you are putting the iphone in your wallet (must be a big wallet) then use some common sense…
I am relying my review on the technical review from popular mechanics which at least addressed the technical side of this unit…
As far as the cost, think about it, we have three iphones in our home, mutiple ipods, psp and we are saving money on not having to have mutiple adapters just for the iphone…
I will follow this review up with a video review when i receive the item and try it out. If it does not work, well heck free return courier to amazon…

I have been using a Wildcharge pad for over a year now for two phones (me and my wife), two Wii controllers (kids 4 & 6) and my BT headset (all on one pad). However I did rush to see the magnetic charge pad and bought one yesterday.
I could not afford to buy all the skins and they have no game cotnroller support, but for my BB Bold they have a very nice skin.
However the first thing my kids did was drop the Powermat from the kitche counter – and it broke! So $150 down the toilet in 6 hours and I am back to the tried and true Wildcharge pad – it has been dropped, washed, coffee-d and abused by my kids for a year and is still OK – plus it is half the price…
